August 2009 -

"An appeal has been lodged against the refusal to permit the erection of a block of flats at 'Tigh-na-Achaid, Mill o' Gryffe Road, Bridge of Weir.'

A site inspection will be conducted by the Reporter on 26th August 2009 to familiarise himself with the physical aspects of the site and surrounding area. The Reporter's decision will be notified in due course.


June 2009 -

Planning application No. 09/0272/PP has been lodged by Punch Taverns Ltd for refurbishment works to the Four Elements Public House, Main St. Bridge of Weir.

Summary of the proposal:

'Refurbishment of existing lounge/restaurant to include replacement of side windows; formation of new opening to rear wall and installation of 4 no. folding doors; installation of new window to existing opening to front; new external cladding & lighting; new canopy with associated patio at rear; and internal alterations to form mezzanine seating area and toilet.' February 2009 -

1. Planning ref: 09/00536/PP Demolition of existing dwelling house and erection of 4 flatted dwellings at Tigh-an-Achaudh, Mill o' Gryffe Road has been lodged. This is similar to an earlier application that was refused in 2007. The main change is that the parking provision has been increased from 4 to 6 car spaces.

2. Planning ref: 09/0066/ New housing development at 'Ardgillian, Collace Avenue with access to Prieston Road.

'Planning application to Ayrshire council for 24 wind turbines at Ladyland moor, Kilbirnie.
On 24th February, Ayrshire Planning Committee considered all objections and representations to this application. The application was refused.

The grounds for refusal are:
That the proposed development is contrary to Policy ECON6 and ECON7 of the approved Ayrshire Joint Structure Plan and Policies ENV1, ENV5A and INF7 of the adopted North Ayrshire Local Plan (excluding Isle of Arran) and contrary to the aims of Policies STRAT1, ECON12 and ECON13 of the Approved Ayrshire Joint Structure Plan in that it would have a significant adverse impact on Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park resulting from its adverse landscape and visual impact, cumulative visual impact and being detrimental to recreational and tourism interests and the enjoyment of visitors to the Regional Park and the wider area in general.'

August 2008 -

Listed Building Consent.
An application to remove the chimney and to reroof the listed building at 1-Morrison Place has been lodged with Renfrewshire Council. Anyone wishing to make representation should write to the Director of Planning at Cotton St. Paisley, PA1 1LL quoting application number 08/0474/LB

June 2008 -

Locher House, Kilbarchan Road - An application for change of use from dwelling house to offices and the erection of a single story extension, associated car parking and changes to the access has been lodged with Renfrewshire Council.'

This development is potentially contrary to policy GB1 of the district local plan. Anyone wishing to make representation should contact the planning department in writing quoting planning application number 08/0523/PP. The plans can be viewed by visiting the planning department at Cotton Street, Paisley.

March 2008 -

In reply to a request for information on potential upgrading of Neva Place the head of planning (Mr G C Russell) replied as follows in his letter dated 28th February 2008.

"...Regarding improvements to Neva Place and the frontage to Main Street, I would confirm that this proposal has been under consideration for some time and that the Planning and Transport Department will continue to allocate funding from the Environmental Improvement Budget. However, as you mention, the delivery of the works is in part dependent on the outcome of the application for Maxwell Place and the agreement of existing land owners.

This being the case I would state that the Council will continue to pursue the delivery of these works at the earliest opportunity but appreciate the patience of the Community Council while the necessary legal processes are completed..."


Westminster Homes has submitted a revised planning application for the land lying to the north west of 'Glenling' - Maxwell Place. The proposal is for the erection of four 2-storey terraced dwellings.
