President's Pucks Tournament Bridge of Weir 3 Glasgow University 0

"Bridge of Weir's convincing win over Glasgow University at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night not only gave them a place in the semi-finals of the President's Pucks competition but avenged in emphatic manner their recent heavy league defeat at the hands of the University.

The return of M D Brennan and W G McDonald lent much greater thrust and finishing ability to Bridge of Weir in attack and stability in defence. The whole side was more constructive and speedier than the University who were often clever individually but lacked the qualities of backing up and ready shooting possessed by their opponents.

Both sides were slow to settle but Bridge of Weir had much the greater share of attack in which W M Muirhead, McDonald and I S McLeod showed to advantage in turn. A J McCabe and O Gratias made headway for University on occasion. A shot by Brennan was only partially cleared by A G Garnock and W S McLeod backed up well to score.

Several pieces of fine stickhandling by W S McLeod for Bridge of Weir and A J McCabe for University were the outstanding features of the second period which was decidedly slow and scrappy.

A J McCabe was again in evidence early in the final period and came close to scoring on three occasions. Brennan then made his way through in splendid fashion to increase Bridge of Weir's lead and McDonald later eluded several University defenders to score a third goal."
