Mitchell Trophy Semi Final  Bridge of Weir 1   Glasgow University 1

"After a strenuously fought game, the semi-final Mitchell Trophy tie between Bridge of Weir and Glasgow University resulted in a draw at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night. Two extra five minutes periods were played without deciding the issue and it was then announced that a replay would take place probably next Friday.

Although fast and hard the game suffered from over-checking and spoiling tactics due to the stubbornness of the defence, particularly on the University side. Neither side revealed much settled teamwork in attack.

The first two periods were decidedly scrambling. Near the end of the first period, W S McLeod scored for Bridge of Weir but then K A Gray equalised for the University in the second period although their opponents were more often in attack.

Bridge of Weir made desperate efforts to gain the lead from the outset of the final session but found the University an exceedingly difficult defence to outwit for the most part and even after making several good openings were too hurried in their shooting to make them count."
