Scottish League (Canada Cup) Bridge of Weir 1 Glasgow University 5
"Bridge of Weir, who were without their regular defence, M D Brennan and W G McDonald, proved no match for Glasgow University at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night. The University's 5-1 victory was one of the most surprising results of the season and affects considerably the various positions in the league competition.
The University proved the much better equipped side and displayed superior thrust and ability to take their chances several of their goals were well taken scores. Bridge of Weir were thoroughly disorganised and could make little headway against the University defence which was also under strength being without R H Gardiner.
There was little indication of the ultimate outcome early in the game when Bridge of Weir had slightly the better of an uneventful first period. On changing ends, A J McCabe scored for University but W M Muirhead equalised. Goals from O Gratias and F McLernan restored a comfortable lead for the University.
Further goals for the University were added by Gratias and A J McCabe in the third period."
