Scottish League (Canada Cup) Bridge of Weir 2 Glasgow University 0
"The traces of rough stuff left by the victorious German ice hockey team have not yet disappeared. That this is so is a reflection on the Scottish League teams. Last night's league match was of the thrilling sort but too many indiscretions annoyed the large crowd of spectators. Luckily we have in D B A Carty, a referee who can put an abrupt end to any rough stuff and the periods of "rest" given the offenders will perhaps gain the desired effect.
Bridge of Weir were full value for their two goals win over Glasgow University last night. The University's attempts to score were limited to solo efforts from J A Easton whose efforts it must be granted were value a goal, a goal that was time and again denied him by the clever goaltending of A N McPhie.
The opposing goaltender was not in the same class as McPhie. In fact, both the league leader's scoring efforts looked saveable.
Easton put in a hard night's work and he must have been chagrined to see the simple counters of G D Rowley and A E McLeod in contrast with his own volleys that McPhie stopped, diverted or smothered.
Rowley and W M Muirhead were in good form for the winners but Glasgow University, apart from Easton, were a disappointing side."
