Scottish League (Canada Cup) Bridge of Weir 2 Mohawks 1

"Bridge of Weir's superiority over Mohawks for much the greater part of a thrilling league encounter at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night was more marked than their narrow winning margin suggested. Bridge of Weir have thus made a fine start by defeating Kelvingrove and Mohawks their two chief rivals in successive games.

From the outset, Bridge of Weir were the more purposeful side and showed fine understanding in their combined moves. Time and again their sound positioning and thrust took them within good shooting distance. They had in M D Brennan and W G McDonald two fine defence players who were ever ready to turn defence into attack and two strong individual dashes by Brennan resulted in goals after he had made his way past the entire Mohawks defence.

Mohawks were speedy individually and frequently made headway but they did not knit well together while their shooting was well below the standard of that of their opponents.

In the third period, Mohawks, who had a full substitute line, appeared to be lasting the pace better than Bridge of Weir and made desperate efforts to reduce the leeway before J Kenny, a new player in the side from Canada, made his way through to score an excellent goal. A breakaway dash by W M Muirhead near the end just fell short of increasing Bridge of Weir's lead."
