Scottish League (Canada Cup) Bridge of Weir 3 Dennistoun Eagles 1

"Bridge of Weir returned to winning form by defeating Dennistoun Eagles in a thrilling and sternly contested league encounter at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night.

Bridge of Weir were superior in teamwork and this together with keen backing up and offensive shooting ability made their win fully deserved. W S McLeod and W G McDonald were outstanding in attack while A Ross's competent goaltending played an important part particularly when defence in general was shaky in the closing period.

Dennistoun claimed a good share of the game and on this account created the impression of being a little unfortunate to lose by two goals. R Mills clever foraging made him a highly dangerous raider and both he and W W Russell were very narrowly deprived of scores.

Early in the game, Mills and E L Montford were sent to the penalty box and during their absence W S McLeod scored for Bridge of Weir but on his return, Mills almost equalised. Bridge of Weir attacked strongly on resuming and McDonald skated cleverly through to score a spectacular goal.

Dennistoun made determined efforts in the final period and were rewarded when Mills outwitted several opponents to score. This added even greater excitement to the exchanges but although more often on the defensive, Bridge of Weir added to their lead through W S McLeod who had to go off just before the end owing to a head injury."

Bridge of Weir: A Ross; M D Brennan and W G McDonald; W S McLeod, W M Muirhead and A F Reid.- R E Muirhead.

Dennistoun Eagles: J Logan; E L Montford and J Collins; G Braid, R Mills and W W Russell.- J R Inglis, H Finnie and W Ross.
Referee: A S Aitken (SIHA).
