Mitchell Trophy Bridge of Weir 0 Kelvingrove 1
"A goal scored in the second period enabled Kelvingrove to reach the final of the Mitchell Trophy for the second year in succession when they just defeated Bridge of Weir at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night. They now meet Queen's in the final which is to be played on 1 April.
Play throughout was thrilling and never lacking in incident and while Kelvingrove were more incisive in their attacking play and kept position better, Bridge of Weir had as big a share of the exchanges.
W S McLeod and W M Muirhead however were the only players in the losing side who showed penetrative ability and none of the other Bridge of Weir players were strong enough to break down the capable Kelvingrove defence. Bridge of Weir missed the services of G D Rowley and R E Muirhead.
W M Muirhead had a clever try for Bridge of Weir in the first period before the end of which A F Reid again brought D Cross into action with a fine effort.
A Ross effected a spectacular save from J Campbell at the start of the second period. Kelvingrove then scored when Campbell with a beautiful dropping puck beat Ross who just failed to save. Bridge of Weir should have equalised when W M Muirhead passed cleverly to A E McLeod but the latter only shot straight at Cross who cleared in the ensuing scrimmage.
A S Dick was sent off in the final period when Bridge of Weir tried hard to save the situation."
