Mitchell Trophy Bridge of Weir 2 Dennistoun Eagles 0
"Dennistoun Eagles fought with great spirit in this Mitchell Trophy second round tie at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night and had they altered their tactics in the first and second periods they might have won.
L J Dixon, Bridge of Weir's new goaltender, was indecisive in clearing loose pucks and had Dennistoun shot repeatedly and followed through quickly they might have secured a lead of a goal or two at a critical juncture of the game.
A F Reid had a good run for Bridge of Weir but W W Russell saved Dennistoun with a great check.
W M Muirhead was ordered off in the opening minutes of the second period for a charge on D Edwards and then G D Rowley scored for Bridge of Weir with a puck that was diverted past J F Logan by Russell. A Gray of Dennistoun and I S McLeod of Bridge of Weir were ordered off before the second period ended.
In the final period, after Russell had failed to clear, R E Muirhead scored Bridge of Weir's second goal from close in. Edwards had a last minute try for Dennistoun but Dixon cleared.
